Data Guide

The Weather and Climate Toolkit supports Gridded and Radial data types in a variety of binary formats including NetCDF, GRIB, HDF, GINI, AREA, NEXRAD, and more. NOTE: These files must comply with the Climate-Forecast (CF) conventions to be readable by this toolkit. For more information on the CF-conventions, refer to: PCMDI - http://cf-pcmdi.llnl.gov/.

Below are some example archive links and THREDDS Data Servers which serve a variety of weather and climate data supported in this Toolkit. To display THREDDS data in the Weather and Climate Toolkit, copy/paste the 'catalog.xml' file into the 'THREDDS' tab on the Data Selector or copy/paste the OPeNDAP access URL into the 'Single File/URL' tab.

Model Data

• NOAA/NCDC NOMADS TDS - historical numerical weather and climate models.
• NOAA/NCEP NOMADS TDS - real-time and short-term archive.
• UCAR/Unidata TDS - real-time (and last 30 days) of numerical weather models.

• NOAA/NCDC NEXRAD Inventory and Archive Access - NEXRAD Level-II, NEXRAD/TDWR Level-III data.
• NOAA/NWS Gateway FTP - real-time (and last 36 hours) of Level-III NEXRAD and TDWR data.
• UCAR/Unidata TDS - real-time (and last 30 days) of national composites, Level-III NEXRAD and TDWR and Level-II NEXRAD.
• NOAA/NCDC TDS - Stage-IV Multi-Sensor Precipitation Totals.
