10, DATABASE MANAGEMENT, REQUEST MACROS, UTILITIES 10, 14,^Search 11, 11,* ^S (Search) can be used to quickly locate a specific sounding from the 11, current database. After selecting ^S, the user can specify a date, 11, date/time, or date/time/station. The cursor will then go directly to the 11, first occurrence of the specification. 10, 14,^Analyze 11, 11,* ^A (Analyze) will decode and analyze a selected sounding. To select a 11, sounding, scroll through the database with the arrow keys until the cursor 11, points to the desired sounding. Then use ^A to retrieve the sounding. 10, 14,^Request Macros 11, 11,* ^R (Request macros) will retrieve a predetermined (user-defined) group of 11, soundings from AFOS. ^R will also create a table of parameters and/or a 11, DBASE compatible file for selected parameters. 10, 11, 10, DATABASE MANAGEMENT, REQUEST MACROS, UTILITIES 10, 14,^Table 11, 11,* ^T (Table) generates a table of convective/wind shear-related parameters 11, from selected soundings. To select soundings for the table, scroll through 11, the database with the arrow keys, then mark the desired sounding by 11, pressing the spacebar. When all desired soundings have been marked, press 11, ESC and the table will be generated. 10, 14,^Dbase 11, 11 * ^D (Dbase) creates a datafile of predetermined parameters that is 11, compatible with most commercial spreadsheet/database programs. Soundings 11, for the Dbase compatible file are selected with the arrow keys, and marked 11, with the spacebar. Directions for customizing parameter lists can be found 11, in the SHARP documentation. 10, 14,^List 11, 11 * ^L (List) will output a listing of the current database to the printer. 10, 10, DATABASE MANAGEMENT, REQUEST MACROS, UTILITIES 11, 14,^Back-up 11, 11,* ^B (Back-up) allows selected sounding data files to be copied from the 11, current database to another directory (or to a floppy disk) for back-up 11, purposes. Soundings are selected with the arrow keys, and marked with the 11, spacebar. 10, 14,^Zap 11, 11,* ^Z (Zap) is used to purge soundings from the database. Selected soundings 11, are located with the arrow keys, and marked with the spacebar. If you try 11, to delete a protected sounding, the program will prompt you with a warning 11, message. 10, 14,^Edit 11, 11 * ^E (Edit) allows descriptive remarks to be appended to selected soundings 11, for future identification. Use the arrow keys to select a sounding, then ^E 11, to add remarks. Remarks can also be edited or deleted. 11, 10, DATABASE MANAGEMENT, REQUEST MACROS, UTILITIES 11, 14,^Codes 11, 11,* ^C (Codes) allows descriptive tags (e.g. ^P [Protect], ^T [Tornado], 11, ^H [Hail], and ^W [wind]) to be appended to selected soundings. Use the 11, arrow keys to select a sounding, then ^C to append the appropriate codes. 11, ^P can also provide an added measure of security to protect valuable 11, soundings from accidental deletion. 10, 14,^Import 11, 11 * ^I (Import) permits sounding files to be moved into the SHARP directory 11, from another directory (or floppy). The files must be either SHARP modified 11, soundings, or NNNMANCCC and NNNSGLCCC files in ASCII format. 11, 14,^Path 11, 11,* ^P (Path) allows the user to access soundings stored in another directory 11, (or on floppy). BE CAREFUL TO TYPE THE PATH NAME CORRECTLY. 11, 14,^Quit - returns the main menu. 91/02/1708:00 91/02/1719:42 l P N\ (08@HPX`hpx Y
