Virtual Globe Archived Severe Weather Warnings

What Is It?

The Virtual Globe Archived Severe Weather Warnings is a collection of daily and monthly .KMZ (Keyhole Markup Language (KML) Zipped) files containing the polygons of Tornado, Severe Thunderstorm, and Flash Flood Warnings. These warnings come from the Service Records Retention System (SRRS), and then they are processed using Java programs that utilize open source GIS.
