Follow signs for I-26 West (to Asheville) Take I-26 west (about 9 miles to I-240) Follow sign for I-240 (to Asheville - only one exit for I-240) Take I-240 east (about 2 miles) Stay in Far Right Lane as you go over the French Broad River. Follow signs and take Exit for Patton Ave. Go Straight (get in the Left lane) on Patton Ave to Fourth (4th) Traffic Light. Turn Left onto OTIS St (Traffic Light). New Federal building (NCDC) is on the left, Days Inn on right, Black Clock (Wick and Greene Jewelers) on corner in front of you to the left. Federal Building (note the brown metal art sculpture) is to your immediate left on the corner. Immediately on the Right (just past small side street – Wall St.) turn into Public Parking into 3 story Parking Garage (next to Wall Street) MISSED EXIT for Patton AVE – it’s OK You are now on I-240 going east. Take Exit 4C (first exit) Go STRAIGHT up the hill to the Stop Light. Go STRAIGHT through the stop light past the Grove Arcade (left) and Asheville Citizen Times (right) to end of the road - Stop Sign (RBC Bank on the right and Public Parking Garage in front of you). At Stop Sign Turn RIGHT get in left lane (a short half block) At Stop Sign Turn LEFT then IMMEDIATELY LEFT into the parking garage. Walk out of the Garage toward Otis Street and note the tall brown metal art sculpture. NCDC is in this Federal Building. (Not the Federal Courthouse). MUST PARK HERE! There is NO long term parking for visitors in the new federal building parking lot. Walk between the Federal Courthouse and the new Federal Building (brown metal artwork sculpture to your left) to the Flag Pole. The glass doors on your left (across from trees and benches/tables) are the ONLY entrance into the new federal building. Report to the security guard. Go straight to the elevators or stairs. TURN LEFT onto Merrimon Ave. Go up the hill to first light TURN LEFT onto Woodfin Ave. (Clydes Saving Bank on left). Go though first light. IF coming from the West I-240 (across the French Broad River): Take Exit 5A (right after exit 4C) Go STRAIGHT up the hill to the Stop Light. Turn LEFT onto Woodfin Street BOTH: Renaissance multi-story building immediately on the Right, Best Western on the Left. To NCDC from Renaissance/Best Western (about 1 mile, 7-10 minutes walk): Exit front of hotel onto Woodfin St. going East (Right if Renaissance and Left if Best Western) Road curves to the right first traffic light: College Ave. Turn RIGHT onto College Ave. Drive through down town using the Left Lane. College Ave. becomes Patton Ave. After passing the park (on left in center of town) get in the Right Lane (watch the lights, confusing) Third Light, Turn Right onto Otis St. (Days Inn on left, Wick and Greene Jewelers on left-Clock on the corner.) Immediately on the Right (just past small side street – Wall St.) turn into 3 story Public Parking Garage (between Wall St. and Battery Park St.) MUST PARK HERE!
