Data Access

Information about the availability of the R/V Shiyan radiation data can be obtained from Ma Zhuguo at the Institute of Plateau Atmosphere, Acadmia Sinica, PRC.

Background

During TOGA COARE, the R/V Shiyan #3 was anchored at 2 14'S, 158 E for the following three legs:

    Leg 1: 2 November - 14 December 1992 (Guangzhou - Honiara)
    Leg 2: 17 December 1992 - 25 January 1993 (Honiara - Honiara)
    Leg 3: 30 January - 24 February 1993 (Honiara - Guam)
Radiation data were collected with a pyranometer, pyrgeometer, net and spectral radiometer. Data were recorded once per hour between 5 am and 21 pm. Data are available for the entire COARE period.
