Information about the availability of the R/V Shiyan cloud water content data can be obtained from Xuan Yuejian at the Institute of Atmospheric Physics, Academia Sinica, PRC.

Background

During TOGA COARE, the R/V Shiyan #3 was anchored at 2 14'S, 158 E for the following three legs:

    Leg 1: 2 November - 14 December 1992 (Guangzhou - Honiara)
    Leg 2: 17 December 1992 - 25 January 1993 (Honiara - Honiara)
    Leg 3: 30 January - 24 February 1993 (Honiara - Guam)
Cloud water content was determined with a dual wavelength microwave radiometer that measured continuously, taking data once every five minutes.
