R/V XIANGYANGHONG #5 - RADIATION DATA

S. Pu (State Oceanographic Administration, PRC)

Announced availability: 1 May 1995

Data Access

R/V Xiangyanghong #5 radiation data are archived and distributed by the Pennsylvania State University Department of Meteorology Field Project Data Archive (http://wwwarc.essc.psu.edu).

After June 1996, data will be available upon request from NOAA's National Climatic Data Center (NCDC) in Asheville, NC (http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov) and from the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) in Boulder, CO (http://dss.ucar.edu/pub/toga_coare/).

Background

During the TOGA COARE Intensive Observing Period (IOP), the PRC R/V Xiangyanghong #5 was stationed at 2 05'S,154 30'E for the following three legs:
    Leg 1: 3 November 92 - 3 December 92 (Kavieng - Honiara)
    Leg 2: 13 December 92 - 12 January 93 (Honiara - Honiara)
    Leg 3: 22 January 93 - 23 February 93 (Honiara - Guam)

The Xiangyanghong #5 primarily supported TOGA radar operations in addition to CTD, ADCP and sounding measurements.
