Climate of 2002 - September
New York Drought

National Climatic Data Center, 11 October 2002

This month was wetter than normal, statewide, bringing an end to the severe dryness of the previous two months. In spite of the September rains, New York had the 26th driest July-September in the 108-year record.

According to the New York Department of Environmental Conservation's Division of Water, as of September 11 the southeastern counties of the state were under a drought watch or warning.
