Although Arizona received near-normal precipitation during the month of November, the total precipitation for January through November was the 2nd lowest in 108 years for that 11-month period. In fact, for 16 of the last 18 months, Arizona has received below normal precipitation statewide.
As noted by Peter Corbett of the Arizona Republic, Phoenix municipal golf courses have instituted a
water conservation program for the winter; Phoenix receives about
40% of its annual precipitation during the winter months.
