New Jersey has experienced wetter-than-normal conditions, statewide, for the last three months, resulting in the seventh wettest October-December in the 108-year record.
As noted by the New Jersey State Climatologist (Dr. David Robinson),
Owing to the 6th wettest fall on record, the drought ended, climatologically, in early December. In early January, the Governor's office announced the end of the drought emergency that was first declared last March.
Reservoirs were almost full, 20% or more above average for January, rivers were
running high, and ground water levels had rebounded to about normal levels in the
bedrock of northern NJ, but while climbing, remained below average in the sandy unconfined
aquifers of southern NJ.
