Central Region Drought

August marked the third consecutive month with below-normal rainfall, regionwide, for the Ohio Valley area, giving the Central region the 18th driest summer (June-August) in the 108-year record. However, this short-term dryness was an interruption to longer-term wet conditions, where March-August ranked as the 15th wettest such 6-month period (see table below).
