Climate of 2002 - August
California Drought

National Climatic Data Center, 13 September 2002

California had the second driest August and fourth driest summer (June-August) in the state's 108-year record this year (see table below). However, since summer is normally the dry season, these moisture deficits have had little impact other than enhancing the fire danger.
