1. New February 24 hour snowfall record set at Rapid City, SD. The 24 hour snowfall on February 7th, 2001 was 11.0 inches. This was a new record for the greatest 24 hour snowfall during the month of February. The previous record was 10.0 inches set on Valentines day (February 14th) in 1889.
2. Huron, SD has greatest snow depth and second snowiest season (so far) ever. The seasonal snowfall as of Feb 9th, 2001 was 71.9 inches at Huron this is only 5.8 inches away from the all time record of 77.7 inches set in the winter of 1961-1962. The snow depth as of February 9th was 30.0 inches which breaks the old record of 28 inches set on February 21st, 1962.
