1. Shreveport, LA reached 107 degrees F. on September 1st, 2000. This broke the all-time record high temperature for September of 105 set on September 7th, 1925 and on September 1st, 1995. Shreveport, LA also reached 102 degrees F on September 2nd, 2000 setting a new daily record and tying the all-time September maximum temperature set just the day before.

2. Monroe, LA broke their hottest September day on record with a 107 degree reading on September 1st, 2000. The previous record was 104 F set on September 15th, 1980.

3. Tyler, TX broke their hottest September day on record with a 107 degree F reading on September 1st, 2000. The previous September record was 106 F set on September 5th, 1913.

4. Lufkin, TX broke their hottest September day on record with a 109 degree F reading on September 1st, 2000. The previous September record was 106 F set on September 4th, 1907.

5. The maximum temperature at Houston, TX (Intercontinental Airport), reached 107 degrees F on September 1st, 2000. This broke the previous record of 102 F set in 1985 and also broke the record high temperature for the month of September set on Sept 1, 1985. A new all-time record high (109F) for this station (for all months) was set on Sept 4, 2000, eclipsing the previous all-time high (107F) set three days earlier. The maximum temperature at the station reached 108 degrees F. on September 5th, 2000. The previous daily record was 98 F set in 1990.

6. The maximum temperature at the Austin/Mabry, TX climbed to 107 degrees F. on September 1st and September 2nd, 2000. This breaks the previous record of 104 F on the 1st and 103 F on the 2nd. The 107 F observed both days was, at the time the record high for the month of September. The previous record high for September was 104 observed on September 1st, 1985. The record high held for only one day, with a maximum temperature of 108 F on September 3rd, 2000 which broke the previous record for the date of 103 F set in 1985. The maximum temperature at this location reached 110 F on September 4rd, 2000. This breaks the previous daily record of 101 F set in 1988 and the 110 F reading surpassed the former all time record high for the station of 108 F set on August 18th, 1923. Then on September 5th, 2000, the station recorded an amazing 112 degrees F. extablishing a new daily, September, and warmest all time record high temperature. The previous daily record was 102 set in 1963, the monthly September, and all time record of 110 F was set just the day before on September 4th, 2000.

7. The maximum temperature at Easterwood field in College Station, TX reached 108 degrees F. on September 1st, 2000. This breaks the previous daily and monthly September record of 106 F for the date set in 1985.The maximum temperature at this location reached 109 F on September 3rd, 2000. This breaks the record for the date of 105 set in 1951. Also, this is a new record high for the month breaking the old record of 108 F set on September 1, 2000. The maximum temperature at this location reached 112 degrees F. on September 4th, 2000. This is a new all time record high for the site, the old daily record was 102 set in 1995 and the former all time record was record was 110 set on July 11th, 1917. The previous record for September was 109 F set on September 3rd, 2000. The maximum temperature at this location reached 111 F on September 5th, 2000. This broke the previous daily record of 102 F set in 1913 and was within one degree of the all time record high set yesterday onSeptember 4th, 2000.

8. September 1st, 2000 was the second day in a row that the temperature at the Corpus Christi, TX airport hit 103 degrees F. This sets a new record for the date- old record was 97 F set back in 1989. This also ties the monthly maximum temperature for September which was previously set on September 5th, 1977. Another record was set on September 3rd, when the maximum temperature reached 104 degrees breaking the previous record for the date of 98 set in 1993 and the previous record for the extreme September maximum temperature of 104 F set just the day before on the 3rd of September. Then the maximum temperature reached 107 degrees F on the September 4th followed by an amazing 109 F reading on the 5th. Temperatures on the 4th broke the all time record high of 106 F which was set on June 14th, 1998 and the previous daily record of 101 F set in 1937. Temperatures on the 5th broke the all time record high of 107 F which was set yesterday, September 4th, 2000 and the daily record of 103 set in 1977. This is also the first time ever that the temperature has reached 100 F for seven consecutive days and the third day in a row in which the record high temperature for September has been exceeded.

9. The maximum temperature at the Dallas/Ft. Worth airport reached 109 degrees F on September 1st, 2nd and 3rd 2000. These were new record highs; the old record on the 1st was 107 F set in 1990; on the 2nd 107 F, set in 1951 and earlier years; and on the 3rd, 105 F set in 1988 and earlier years. The old record high for the month of September was 108 F set on September 4th, 1998. September 3rd through the 5th saw temperatures of 109 F which set a new all time maximum for month of September. Then the maximum temperature at the Dallas/Ft. Worth airport reached 111 F on September 4th, 2000. This 111 F reading is a new all time record for September and the hottest temperature recorded so late in the year. This was the 5th warmest temperature on record and the warmest temperature since June 28th, 1980 when the high was 112 F. The highest temperaturee on record was 113 F set on June 26th and June 27th, 1980. The high temperature on August 5th, 2000 reached 101 degrees F. while not a record makes 44 days so far this year with temperatures 100 F or higher. Additionally on the 10th of the month, DFW airport recorded their sixth day of 100 F or higher temperatures in the month of September. This ties the record for the most 100 or higher days in September which was previously set in 1951.

10. The maximum temperature on September 1st and 2nd, 2000 reached 108 degrees F at Wichita Falls, TX. This ties the record for these dates and also ties the record high for the month of September. The maximum temperature reached 108 degrees on September 3rd, 2000. This breaks the record for the date and ties the all time maximum temperature for September. The maximum temperature reached 111 degrees F on September 4th, 2000. This breaks the previous daily record of 108 set in 1988 and also is a new all time high for the month of September. The previous all time high of 108 was reached in September 2000 and previous years. This also marks the 34rd day in a row that the temperature at Wichita Falls, TX reached 100 degrees F or more.

11. The maximum temperature at Beaumont/Port Arthur, TX (Southeast Texas Regional airport) on September 1st, 2000 reached 102 degrees F, which is a new daily and monthly record high temperature. The old record daily high was 99 F set in 1985; the old record monthly high was 101 F set in 1904. The temperature at this location hit 104 degrees F on September 2nd, 2000. The old record for the date was 99 F set in 1989. This also set a new all-time record high for September of 104 F, the old record was set just the day before with 102 F. The maximum temperature on September 4th, 2000, reached 105 degrees F, which again is a new daily and monthly record high temperature. The old record for the date was 98 F set in 1990; the old record monthly maximum temperature was 104 at set on the 2nd of the month.

12. The maximum temperature at the Lafayette regional airport, LA was 101 degrees F on September 1st, 2000. This is a new record high for the date and also tied the monthly all time record high for the month of September. The old daily record was 98 F set in 1932, the monthly record high including this day's high was set in 1925 and 1954. The temperature at this location hit 102 F on September 2nd, 2000. The old record for the date was 99 F set in 1918. This also set a new all-time record high for September of 102 F, the old record was set just the day before with 101 F and also in prior years. The temperature at this location hit 103 F on September 3rd, 2000. This broke the old daily record of 99 set in 1893. This is also a new monthly record maximum temperature. The old record maximum temperature was set the day before (2nd) of September 2000.

13. The maximum temperature at the Alexandria LA, powerplant was 106 degrees on September 1st, 2000. This is a new daily and monthly record high temperature. The old daily high temperature was 103 F set in 1947; the old monthly high for September of 104 F was set in 1952 and tied in 1953. The temperature at this location hit 106 F on September 2nd, 2000. The old record for the date was 102 F set in 1947. This also tied the all-time record high for September of 106 F set just the day before on the 1st of September 2000. The temperature at this location hit 107 degrees F. on September 3rd, 2000. This broke the old daily record of 100 set in 1951 and established a new record high September maximum temperature, breaking the old record of 106 F set just the day before on the 2nd. The maximum temperature at the Alexandria, LA, powerplant was 107 degrees on September 4th, 2000. This was again a new daily record high temperature and tied the September maximum temperature set yesterday (3rd). This station has either set or tied the maximum September record four days in a row.

14. The maximum temperature at Gilbert, AR was 108 degrees F on September 1st, 2000. This is a new record for the date, the old record was 105 F set in 1947. This 108 F reading is also a new monthly September maximum temperature, the old record was 107 set on September 3rd, 1954. Gilbert, AR hit 108 F degree again on the 2nd, breaking a record for the date and tying the all-time September maximum temperature which was set yesterday on September 1st, 2000.

15. The maximum temperature at Wichita, KS, (Mid Continent Airport) reached 108 degrees F. on September 2nd, 2000. This broke the daily record of 106 F set back in 1934 and also ties the hottest September temperature recorded in Wichita.

16. The maximum temperature at Salina, KS reached 110 degrees F on September 2nd, 2000. This broke the daily record of 105 F set back in 1939. The 110 F reading is also a new September maximum temperature breaking the old record of 109 F set in 1922 for Salina.

17. The maximum temperature at Chanute, KS reached 107 degrees F on September 2nd, 2000. This broke the daily record of 108 F set back in 1954. The 107 F reading is also a new September maximum temperature breaking the old record of 105 F set in 1998 for Chanute.

18. The maximum temperature at Waco, TX (Regional Airport) reached 107 degrees F on September 2nd, 2000. This broke the daily record of 104 F set in 1951 and earlier years. The 107 F reading sets a new record as the highest temperature ever recorded during the month of September. The previous September record was 106 degrees set on four different days in prior years. The maximum temperature at this location hit 108 degrees F. on September 3rd, 2000. The old record for the date was 106 F set in 1985. The high of 108 F breaks yesterday's (September 2nd) high of 107 which was the previous hottest monthly September maximum temperature.

19. The maximum temperature at New Orleans, LA, (Audubon Park) reached 101 degrees F on September 2nd, 2000. This broke the daily record of 98 F set in 1989. This also established a new record September maximum temperature; the old record was set on September 10th, 1980. The maximum temperature at this site reached 101 degrees F. on September 4th, 2000. This broke the daily record of 96F set in 1947. This also ties the all time September maximum temperature set two days ago on September 2nd.

20. The maximum temperature at Baton Rouge, LA, reached 102 degrees F on September 2nd, 2000. This broke the daily record of 98 F set in 1989. This also ties the September maximum temperature set on September 23rd, 1921. The high temperature at this location reached 103 F on September 3rd, 2000. This breaks the record for the date of 98 F set in 1989 and is a new all-time record maximum for September. The old September maximum temperature was set on September 2nd, 2000.

21. The maximum temperature at San Antonio, TX, reached 104 degrees F on September 2nd and 3rd , 2000. This broke the daily record of 103 set back in 1985 on the 1st and established a new all-time record high for the month of September. The 103 F reading also occurred on September 11th and 12th in 1983. The maximum temperature of 104 degrees F. on September 3rd, 2000 broke the daily high of 102 set in 1989. This reading also tied the all time high temperature for September set the day before on the 2nd. The temperature at this location reached 109 degrees on September 4th, 2000. This broke the daily record of 101 and also became the hottest day observed for any month. The previous all time record high was 108 set on August 19, 1986. Then on September 5th, 2000, for the second day in a row, the Alamo City recorded its all time record high temperature ever for any month. The mercury hit 111 degrees F, breaking the daily record of 102 set in 1989, the monthly September and all time record of record of 109 set just the day before, September 4th, 2000. The temperature reached or exceeded the century mark for the first six days of the month. This is a new record for the most number of days and the most number of consecutive days in September with the high temperature 100 F or higher. Thr previous record was five days in 1989.

22. The maximum temperature at Lake Charles, LA, was 101 degrees F on September 2nd, 2000. This broke both the daily and monthly record high of 100 F set in 1995. The maximum temperature was 103 degrees F. on September 3nd, 2000 which broke both the daily and monthly record. The old daily record was 98 set in 1998. The old monthly September maximum temperature record was 101 F set the day before (2nd) and in previous years. The maximum temperature at Lake Charles, LA was 105 degrees F. on September 4nd, 2000. The old daily record was 99 F set in 1916 and the old monthly record was set just yesterday (3rd). The maximum temperature at the station was 104 F on September 5th, 2000. While not an all time record this was the fourth day in a row in which the daily and or monthly records were tied or broken !

23. The maximum temperature at the Lincoln (Municipal Airport), NE reached 106 degrees F. on September 2nd, 2000. This broke the daily record of 100 F set in 1956. This also tied the all-time record high for the month of September set in 1922.

24.The high temperature at the Austin/Bergstrom, TX, airport reached 107 degrees F on September 3rd, 2000. This broke the previous daily record of 104 set in 1985. This also tied the all-time monthly September maximum temperature of 107 F set at this location on September 1st, 1951. The maximum high temperature at this location reached 110 degrees F on September 4th, 2000. This breaks the previous daily record of 102 set in 1985 and also establishes a new monthly and extreme record high temperature, breaking the old record set on June 14th, 1988.Then on September 5th, 2000, the station recorded an astounding 112 degrees F establishing a new daily, September and all time record high temperature. The previous daily record was 101 set in 1989 and prior years, the monthly September and all time record of 110 F was set just the day before on September 4th, 2000. The high temperature at the station also reached or exceeded 100 F on the first six days of September. This is a new record for the most consecutive number of days with a high of 100 F or higher. This breaks the previous record of five consecutive days set in 1989. The six days with 100 F or higher also tied the record for the most days in September set in 1951 and tied in 1985 and 1989.

25.The high temperature at the Del Rio, TX (Airport) reached 106 degrees F on September 3rd, 2000. This broke the record for the date of 103 set in 1907. This also tied the all time maximum temperature for September of 106 F set on September 1st, 1952. The high temperature at this location reached 107 degrees F. on September 4th, 2000. This broke the daily record of 101 set in 1977 and becomes the hottest September day ever recorded. The maximum temperature at this location reached 109 F on September 5th, 2000. This broke the daily record of 103 set in 1977 and broke the short lived September maximum temperature record of 107 set the day before on September 4th, 2000. Then the station reached 110 F on September 6th, 2000. This broke the daily record of 102 set in 1995 and is now the hottest September day at the station, the previous record was set the day before on September 5th, 2000 with a reading of 109 F. This was the 4th day in a row that daily and or September maximum temperature records were tied of broken. The high temperature at the station also reached or exceeded 100 F for the first seven days of the month. This is a new record for the const consecutive days at or above 100 F in September, the old record was six days in September 1977. The record for the must number of September days with highs 100 or higher is twelve set in 1977.

26.The maximum high temperature at Laughlin AFB (Del Rio), TX, reached 115 degrees F on September 5th, 2000. This is a new all time record high for the station; the previous record high was 112 degrees F.

27.The maximum temperature at Ft. Smith, AR, reached 109 degrees F on September 3rd, 2000. This is the second day in a row where the all time high for the month of September had been tied. The 109 F readings on the 2nd and 3rd of the month, tie the all time high of 109 previously set on September 4th, 1998.

28. The maximum temperature at Fayetteville, AR reached 103 degrees F on September 2nd and 3rd, 2000. These temperatures tied the porevious all time record high September maximum temperature. The previous all time September maximum temperature was set on September 4th,1998.

29. The maximum temperature at Abilene, TX, reached 106 degrees F on September 4th, 2000. This broke the daily high temperature record of 102 set in 1998, but also tied the all time September record high originally set on September 1st, 1952. Then on September 5th, 2000 the temperature reached 107 F; this not only broke the daily record of 102 set in 1948, but broke the September maximum temperature of 106 F set the day before on September 4th, 2000 and September 1st, 1952.

30. The maximum temperature at Waco, TX, reached 111 degrees F on September 4th, 2000. This broke the daily high temperature record of 106 set in 1998 and also set a new record high temperature for the month of September. This also is the highest temperature recorded for so late in the year and the second warmest recorded temperature. The warmest temperature on record was 112 F set on August 11th, 1969.

31. The maximum temperature at Victoria, TX, reached 110 degrees F on September 4th, 2000. The broke the record for the date of 101 set in 1939 and tied the all time record high for Victoria previously set on July 9th, 1939. The previous record high for September was 106 F set on September 7th, 1912. The station reached an incredible 111 degrees F on September 5th, 2000. This broke the record for the date of 103 set in 1927 but more importantly broke the all time record high which was set the day before on September 4th, 2000.

32. The maximum temperature at Texarkana, TX, reached 108 degrees F on September 4th, 2000. This tied the all time record high for September, and for the day which was previously set on September 4th, 1939.

33. The maximum temperature at Tyler, TX, reached 109 degrees F on September 4th, 2000. This broke the daily record of 105 F set in 1998 and tied the all time record high for September which was previously set on September 3rd, 2000.

34. The maximum temperature at Longview, TX, reached 109 degrees F on September 4th, 2000. This broke the daily record of 108 F set in 1939, and tied the all time record high for September which was previously set on September 2nd, 1939.

35. The maximum temperature at Lufkin, TX, reached 110 degrees F on September 4th, 2000. This tied the all time record high temperature last reached on August 19th, 1909. The prvoius September maximum temperature was 109 F, set on September 3rd, 2000.

36. The maximum temperature at Brownsville, TX reached 105 degrees F on September 5th, 2000. This broke the previous daily and all time record high for September of 102 set on the 5th. This is also within one degree of the all time maximum temperature recorded of 106 F set on March 27th, 1984.

37. The maximum temperature at Galveston, TX reached 104 degrees F on September 5th, 2000. This broke the previous daily, monthly and all time record high temperatures. The previous daily record was 94 F set in 1990. The previous all time September record was 101 F, set the day before on September 4th, 2000 and the all time record high was 102 set on July 16th, 1932.

38. The maximum high temperature at New Braunfels, TX, reached 112 degrees F on September 5th, 2000. This is a new all time record high for the station. The previous record was 110 F set in July 1951 and tied in August 1952 and again on September 4th, 2000.

39. The maximum temperature at Randolph AFB (San Antonio), TX, reached 111 degrees F on September 5th, 2000. This is a new all time record high for the station. The previous record was 108 degrees F set on September 4th, 2000.

40. The maximum temperature at Kelly Field (San Antonio), TX, reached 112 degrees F on September 5th, 2000. This is a new all time record high for the station. The previous record was 108 degrees F set on September 4th, 2000.

41. Maximum temperature records were set or tied in southeast Arizona on September 13th, 2000. Three stations (Douglas, Safford and Organ Pipe) high temperatures were the warmest ever recorded so late in the year. The records were : Douglas 99 F old record 97 in 1998; Safford Ag Stn ,103 F old record 100 in 1998 and Organ Pipe 111 F old record 109 in 1995.

42. The maximum temperature at Boise, ID reached 100 degrees F. on September 14th, 2000. This broke the old record of 95 set back in 1948 and is also the warmest ever for so late in the season. This also marks the 10th day this year with high temperatures 100 F of higher. This ranks fourth all time for the number of days at or above 100 F in a year.

43. The maximum temperature of 101 degrees F. fell short of the record high on September 14th, 2000. However, it makes the 14th the seventh day of triple digit heat in Oklahoma City, OK. This is a new record for the most days in September with maximum temperatures at or above 100 F. The old record was 6 days set two years ago in 1998.

44. The maximum temperature at Phoenix, AZ (Sky Harbor AP) reached 112 degrees F. on September 14th, 2000. This broke the daily record of 109 set in 1971 and ties for the third warmest high for any date in September and also is the latest in the year that a temperature of 110 F was recorded.

45. The maximum temperature at Tucson, AZ (Intl. AP) reached 107 degrees F. on September 14th, 2000. This ties the all-time record high set back on September 11th, 1990 and shattered the daily record of 103 set in 1956 and earlier years and also is the warmest temperature recorded so late in the season.

46. The maximum temperature at Pocatello, ID reached 96 degrees F. on September 15th, 2000. This broke the old record of 92 F for the date set in 1995. This also was a new record high temperature for so late in the season.

47. The maximum temperature at Billings, MT reached 95 degrees F. on September 15th, 2000. The broke the daily record of 93 F set in 1948 and also is the warmest temperature for so late in the year.

48. The maximum temperature at Bozeman, MT reached 97 degrees F. on September 15th, 2000. The easily broke the daily record of 89 F set in 1998 but also was a new September maximum temperature breaking the old record of 95 F set in 1998 and previous years.

49. The maximum temperature at Butte, MT reached 93 degrees F. on September 15th, 2000. The easily broke the daily record of 85 F set in 1998 but also tied the September maximum temperature record of 93 F set on the 4th and 5th of September in 1998.

50. The maximum temperature at Denver, CO reached 95 degrees F. on both September 16th and 17th, 2000. The reading on the 16th broke the daily record of 92 F in 1895 and was temporarily the latest date that 95 F was recorded and also the 60th day with temperatures at 90 degrees or higher tying the record. The reading on the 17th broke the daily record of 94 F, was the 61 day this year with high temperatures equal or higher than 90 degrees- a new record which broke the old record set on September 16th, 2000 and also in 1994.

51. The maximum temperature at Rapid City, SD reached 101 degrees F. on September 17th, 2000. This shattered the old daily record of 96 F set in 1943. This was also the latest date in the season that the temperature has exceeded the century mark. The previous last date was 103 F on September 15th, 1948.

52. The maximum temperature at Cheyanne, WY reached 91 degrees F on Settember 17th, 2000. This broke the daily record of 88 F set in 1895 but also marked the latest 90 degree F or higher temperature recorded so late in the season. The old record was 90 degrees on September 14th, 1948.

53. The minimum temperature at Bristol, TN (Tri Cities AP) fell to 37 degrees F. on September 17th, 2000. The shattered the old daily record of 42 F set in 1999 but also is a new record of being the coldest temperature ever recorded so early in the season.

54. The low temperature at Austin, TX (Bergstrom AP) reached 48 degrees F. on Monday, September 18th, 2000. This broke the old daily record of 51 set in 1981 but also is the earliest in the season that temperatures fell into the 40's. The previous earliest 40's reading was 47 on September 19th, 1981.

55.. The low temperature at the Billings, MT Intl airport was 25 degrees F. on September 22nd, 2000. The previous low temperature for the date was 30 degrees F set in 1971. This also was the coldest temperature for so early in the season.

56. In Great Falls, MT the maximum temperature hit 95 degrees F on September 15th and 16 degrees F on September 23rd. This is a temperature range of 79 degrees F over a span of just 9 days. This is the largest range for any September. The previous record September range was 73 degrees F in 1995 with a high of 95 F on the 3rd and a 20 F on the 21st.

57. The low temperature at the Spokane Intl AP, WA was 22 degrees F on September 23rd, 2000. This broke the previous record for the day of 28 F set in 1926 and tied the all record low for September which occurred on September 24, 1926.

58. The low temperature at the Wenatchee Pangborn Field, WA was 31 degrees F on September 23rd, 2000. This broke the previous record for the day of 36 F set in 1996 and tied the all record low for September which occurred on September 29, 1985.

59. The low temperature at the Bangor airport, ME fell to 23 degrees F on September 29th, 2000. This temperature is a new record for the date and the month of September. The previous daily record was 25 degrees F set on this date in 1980. The previous monthly low record was 24 degrees F set on the 27th and 28th of September, 1947.

60. The average monthly mean temperature of 84.8 degrees F in Tucson, AZ breaks the old record of 84.5 degrees F set in 1989. The average monthly September maximum temperature of 98.6 degrees ranks as the fourth warmest on record, while the average September minimum temperature of 70.9 degrees F was the third warmest.

1. As of 1245 PM at downtown Sacramento, CA, station measured 0.16 inches of rain. This is the first measurable rainfall for September 1st, since records started back in 1849. The previous record was a trace set in 1941.

2. The North Little Rock airport, Little Rock, AR, received 0.53 inches of rain on the 1st of September, 2000. This was the first measurable rain since August 4th, 2000 and ended the streak of 27 days with no rain whatsover. This was a new all time record for most consecutive days with no rain. The previous record was 26 days from October 28th through November 22nd, 1887 and was tied from May 22nd through June 16th, 1911.

3. This summer (June-August) brought 23.33 inches of rain to Rochester, MN. This is not only nearly double the usual amount but also broke the seasonal summer rainfall record of 22.86 inches set in 1990. For the year, Rochester precipitation total is 35.83 inches and if the station received just average rainfall the rest of the year it would make the year 2000 the second wettest on record. The wettest year was 1990 when 43.94 inches of precipitation fell - normal is 29.66 inches.

4. September 13th, 2000 marked the 46th consecutive day in Oklahoma City, OK, with no rainfall, not even a trace of precipitation. This is a new all time record beating the previous record of 39 days set from December 25th, 1985 through February 1st, 1986. The last time rain was measured at the station was on June 29th when 0.21 inches fell. The record number of consecutive days with no measurable rainfall but including trace events is 68 days which occurred from October 21st through December 27th, 1910.

5. As of Sept 22th, 2000 no measurable rainfall has fallen in Dallas (Dallas/Ft Worth Airport) for 84 straight days. This broke the string of 58 rain-free days set during the height of the dust bowl in 1934, and also in 1950. One minute before midnight on Saturday September 23rd, enough drops had fallen in a rain gauge at the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport to register 1/100th of an inch -- the only measurable rainfall the official rain gauge had taken since June 30. Those few drops, and the showers that followed on Sunday (23rd) , officially ended North Texas' record dry spell. The streak had shattered the previous record of 58 days set during the dust bowl in 1934 and reached again in 1950.

6. The official September 2000 rainfall at Midland, TX was 0.00 inches. Thes broke the previous monthly minimum precipitation record for Midland in September of 0.01 inches set in 1939.

7. The official September 2000 rainfall at Amarillo, TX was just 0.03 inches which fell on September 23-34th, 2000. This 0.03 inches also fell during September of 1977 and ties for the driest September at the station.

8. Officially no rainfall fell during September 2000 at Lubbock, TX. This ties the record for the station, no rain was recorded in September 1954 as well.

1. Record snowfall recorded for the second consecutive day at Cheyenne, WY. A total of 6.4 inches of snow fell at Cheyenne, WY on Sunday, Sept 24, 2000. The shattered the previous daily record of 2.8 inches set in 1912. This is also a new highest September daily amount of snowfall, breaking the of record of 6.1 inches set on September 14th, 1912. Cheyenne also received 4.2 inches of snow on the 23rd of the month which broke the previous daily record of .5 inches of snow and was a new daily record of .42 inches of meltwater. The previoius daily record was .32 inches set in 1918.

1. A severe thunderstorm hit the North Little Rock airport at Little Rock, AR, on September 1st, 2000. The win hit a peak gust of 72 MPH at 4:38PM this was the highest wind gust ever officially recorded in Little Rock. The previous record was 69 MPH which first occurred on April 25th, 1961 and tied on June 23rd, 1987. Both of those wind gusts came during severe thunderstorms as well.
