1. Brownsville, TX recorded a maximum temperature of 102 degrees on May 5, tying the record May maximum at the airport location. Observations at this site began in 1938.

2. On May 1, the maximum temperature at Tampa, FL was 68 degrees, the 3rd coldest high temperature ever recorded during the month of May. The all-time coldest maximum temperature for May is 65 degrees on May 3, 1909 and May 4, 1921.

3. The minimum temperature at St Petersburg-Clearwater, FL airport on May 2nd was 56 degrees, tying the all-time lowest temperature for the month of May at the airport site.

1. The 0.4" of snowfall at Fairbanks, AK early in the month brought their seasonal total to 31.0", which is the third lowest winter snowfall total in the 95 years of record.

1. The Rapid City, SD airport experienced 68mph wind gusts on May 6, to set a new record for the month of May. The old record was 61 mph in 1987. In addition, the one-minute average wind of 54 mph is also a record for May and ties the all-time record set in June 1990.
