NCDC Scientist Reelected President of the WMO’s Commission for Climatology
Delegates from 66 countries attending the 16th quadrennial meeting of the World Meteorological Organization’s (WMO) Commission for Climatology reelected NCDC’s Dr. Thomas Peterson to a second four-year term as President of the Commission. The delegates also elected Ms. Barbara Tapia from Chile as Vice President of the Commission.
Established in 1929, the WMO Commission for Climatology provides world leadership in promoting expertise and international cooperation in climatology. Additionally, the Commission advises, guides, and contributes to activities of the World Climate Programme, particularly through the World Climate Services Programme including Climate Applications and Services and Climate Data and Monitoring, while playing a key role in implementation of the Global Framework for Climate Services.
